About North Siders Clearance
North Siders Clearance puts store-level clearance prices, price drops and stock from several retailers on one site, free. It is a small independent project. We are not a store, we don’t sell anything, and we are not affiliated with any retailer.
Contact
Email support@nsclearance.com for questions, a wrong price, a request to add a store, or anything about your data. A person reads every message.
Where the prices come from
Prices, was-prices and stock are read automatically from each retailer’s own public website, one store at a time, on a schedule. Every price on the site shows which store it was read at and how long ago. Nothing is typed in by hand; anything a visitor reports is labelled as a community report.
What we cover
- Canada: Canadian Tire, Home Depot Canada, Princess Auto and Best Buy Canada, at their stores across the country.
- United States: Home Depot, at a small set of stores for now. More stores are being added.
Will it be on the shelf?
Not always. Stock numbers are the store’s own system count, and for clearance items that count is often off: the last one or two units may be sold, lost or in the back. A count of 1 or 2 is the least reliable. Before you drive, call the store or check the item on the retailer’s site. Prices can also change at the register.
“In stock at 12 stores” means 12 of the stores where we recorded that item’s deal price. Other stores may carry it at full price, or not at all.
Words you’ll see
- Clearance
- The retailer marked the item as clearance at that store. Clearance prices differ from store to store.
- Price drop / markdown
- The price is below the retailer’s own regular price, whether or not it is labelled clearance.
- Was
- The retailer’s regular price, as the retailer shows it.
- First markdown, final markdown
- Home Depot US clearance prices drop in steps; the last cents of the price (.06, then .03 or .02) show the step.
- May be $0.01
- At the end of clearance, Home Depot US sometimes marks remaining units down to $0.01 (a “penny” item). We flag items that look like this; it is never certain, and the store does not have to sell them.
- “Store + 2 more stores”
- The price shown is the lowest one, at the named store; the item is also on the list at the other stores.
- Open box
- Best Buy Canada’s returned or display units, sold below the new price.
